Title | Referee's report by John Bretland Farmer, on a paper 'The infection, histology and development of the uredo stage in certain uredineae' by J B P Evans |
Date | October 1905 |
Description | Sectional Committee: Botany
Recommended for publication in Proceedings, after modification. The paper is currently of inordinate length and should be greatly compressed. It resembles a careful laboratory note work rather than a finished paper. The English composition ought to be amended. The controversial portion, pages 105-120, if included, requires moderating in tone. Most of the illustrations are not necessary for the elucidation of the text and many will stand reduction. Two double plates of Proceedings size should be ample for the requirements of the paper. The paper was originally apparently intended as a dissertation. It contains many new facts and is a valuable contribution to the subject with which it deals, but is altogether too long for the Proceedings.
