Title | Referee's report by Charles Scott Sherrington, on a paper 'A comparative study of the grey and white matter of the motor-cell groups; and the spinal-accessory nerve in the spinal cord of the porpoise, (Phocoena communis)' by D Hepburn and D Waterston |
Date | July 1903 |
Description | Sectional Committee: Physiology
Not recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. Thinks the results are too slender and too merely matters of detail to justify the publication of the paper as a Philosophical Transactions communication. The same theme has been investigated by other workers employing the same method, though here the observations are given in greater detail. The illustrations comprise some good low-power microphotographs. The paper suffers from faulty literary exposition and terminology and the writer appears not fully conversant with the previous literature. The serious objection to the paper is the slenderness of the account of, and the unimportant character of the contribution that it furnishes to new knowledge.
