Title | Referee's report by Edward Solly, on a paper 'On rubian and its products of decomposition' by Henry Edward Schunck |
Date | 21 February 1851 |
Description | Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Refers to work by Charles Frédéric Kuhlmann and Higgin [?], and the author's former papers as presented to the British Association. Considers the experiments to have been carried out carefully and exactly, but points out that Rubian does seem to contain a variable amount of carbonate of lime, which is not addressed in the paper and casts some doubt on the 'exact nature of that substance'. This does not interfere with the conclusions set out in the paper, however.
