Title | Letter from P A Michaels, Sperry Rand Corportation on a paper 'The laminar boundary layer in compressible flow' by W F Cope and Douglas Rayner Hartree to the Publications Secretary of the Royal Society |
Date | 5 April 1971 |
Description | Sperry Rand are engaged in a major lawsuit before the District Court of Minnesota. The lawsuit concerns the basic patent of the original ENIAC computer. An issue that is expected to arise is the date of first public use of the computer in the United States. Early calculations made on the computer formed the subject of this paper. Asks how much of the matter descriptive of the computations on the ENIAC computer was in the first draft of the paper and what additions were made. Asks if their legal representatives could inspect the paper and produce photocopies.
