DescriptionCommencing [p.1] with a note on 'A Dinner to be ordered every Thursday for Six at 1s 6ce per Head eating...', hence sometimes the 'Thursday Club'. Most of the volume contains lists of attendees (including 'visitors', e.g. guests) at each weekly dated meeting, with an accompanying list of the foodstuffs consumed. There is an initial list of subscribers [pp.2-3] and some brief annual accounts [pp.4-7] before the book settles into the routine of early evening dining. There are occasional gifts of meat from club members [for example p.28, venison from Mr York] and memoranda on club rules, notably on guests [p.32] and number of members, with elections for vacancies [pp.40-41]. The volume volume concludes with a list of candidates for 1748-1749 [p.190].
