TitleLetter from C [Charles] Wyville Thomson, Bonsyde, Linlithgow, to [John] Gwyn Jeffreys
CreatorThomson; Sir Charles Wyville (1830-1882); British naturalist
RecipientJeffreys; John Gwyn (1809-1885); British lawyer and conchologist
Date3 May 1880
DescriptionHe had a note from [George Henry] Richards some time ago about the Club. He has had anxiety and physical distress during the last year, and a slow recovery from 'a very morbid condition - with more absolutely necessary work than I was fit for'. He is now much better and hopes to rejoin his old life next year. He was not aware of the subscription, thinking it could be paid once he was present. He sends a cheque for this and the Linnean subscription, due this month. The amount was not mentioned but he thinks it was £2 2s. If it is more, he asks Jeffreys to let him know. He can take it from the Linnean money and he will settle with Jeffreys on the 13th.
