TitleLetter from Erasmus Ommanney, United Services Club, Pall Mall, to [John] Gwyn Jeffreys
CreatorOmmanney; Sir Erasmus (1814-1904); British naval officer
RecipientJeffreys; John Gwyn (1809-1885); British lawyer and conchologist
Date3 November 1878
DescriptionJeffreys will be surprised to learn that Ommanney has moved with his family to Yamouth on the Isle of Wight, and he should be addressed there in future. The place commands a fine view of the Solent. The only regret he has is that he will not be able to enjoy the several societies in town. He will not be able to avail himself of the Royal Society Club, and as Jeffreys has several candidates, Ommanney thinks he ought to retire in favour of a town resident.
