Title | Letter from Erasmus Ommanney, United Services Club, Pall Mall, to [John] Gwyn Jeffreys |
Creator | Ommanney; Sir Erasmus (1814-1904); British naval officer |
Recipient | Jeffreys; John Gwyn (1809-1885); British lawyer and conchologist |
Date | 3 November 1878 |
Description | Jeffreys will be surprised to learn that Ommanney has moved with his family to Yamouth on the Isle of Wight, and he should be addressed there in future. The place commands a fine view of the Solent. The only regret he has is that he will not be able to enjoy the several societies in town. He will not be able to avail himself of the Royal Society Club, and as Jeffreys has several candidates, Ommanney thinks he ought to retire in favour of a town resident. |
