Description | He has carefully considered the rules of the Royal Society Club and has no doubt as to their meaning. Club membership may be obtained by election, or by appointment as President or Officer of the Royal Society, or by the Astronomer Royal, once contacted by the Club Treasurer. Elections for the former are at the Anniversary meeting, the latter on signifying to the Treasurer. The proposed resolution is out of order in that it calls for ex officio membership without communication with the Treasurer as required in rule 1. The rules make no distinction beween the President of the Royal Society and other official personages; the President must be asked before the first meeting of the Club in December and it is the duty of the Treasurer to ask the same of any newly elected official. If they reply in time, they are full members entitled to attend with no further formality. |
