TitleLetter from [Dugald Clerk], to Professor W W [William Whitehead] Watts, Hillside, Langley Park, Sutton, Surrey
CreatorClerk; Sir Dugald (1851-1935); British mechanical engineer
RecipientWatts; William Whitehead (1860-1947); British geologist and educationalist
Date27 August 1918
DescriptionThanking Watts for his letter and the copy enclosure to be sent to Philosophical Club members regarding arrangements with Macmillan. He has telephoned Colonel Hills and both agree that Macmillan should be authorised to proceed without waiting for Club members' replies. Clerk and Hill will guarantee to cover the additional costs over what is gathered from subscriptions. He suspects that the public will be more interested in the book than Macmillans think. Clerk gives thanks for the letters regarding the preliminary report of the Water Power Committee of the Cojoint Board of Scientific Societies and he returns them. Notices have appeared in the Press and he will send these when he has gathered more.
