Title | Letter from G W [George William] Lamplugh, 13 Beaconsfield Rd., St Albans, to [William Bate] Hardy |
Creator | Lamplugh; George William (1859-1926); British geologist |
Recipient | Hardy; Sir William Bate (1864-1934); British biologist and food scientist |
Date | 30 May 1926 |
Description | He postponed replying, since he was to have a consultation with a specialist. An operation has been ruled out, due to the position of the cancer; Lamplugh had ruled it out already. Treatment is possible as the cancer is local, but the specialist refused to say anything other than he might 'run on' for a year or two. He may be able to attend Royal Society Club dinners in Autumn, but it cannot be depended upon, and it is not probable that he could become Senior Treasurer. He thinks it would be best to retire at the end of the session. Lamplugh doubts whether he will attend the Annual Meeting, as he needs to officiate at the Geological Club. He should be able to take duty on 17 June, as the ameliorative treatment should give him more freedom of range. |
