TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Dr Melvin Calvin, Director, Laboratory of Chemical Biodynamics, University of California, Berkeley, California
Date6 October 1977
DescriptionStates he has now completed his paper on their subject, and in the course of the work unearthed a great deal of further evidence, especially in relation to earthquakes. Gold will send a copy shortly.

States it is now time to get around to proposal writing, and he has made contact with appropriate people in the department of energy. He wonders if Calvin is ready to send Gold a description of all the sniffing investigation he proposes, for inclusion in the proposal. If a close cooperation with UCLA seems desirable, Gold wonders whether Calvin would like to solicit a piece from them for the same purpose, and whether he would like to put Gold in touch with the appropriate persons there. Gold would be willing to come out to Calvin's side again for the purpose of getting to know the people concerned there and discussing any joint program. Personal conctact usually helps in the long run, and Gold down not want to spare any effort to get going in this case.

Post script; States he thinks the Palmdale bulge is too large to be attributed to gas. If it is gas it would supply 300 years of mean supply when it pops, and it wuld release a great deal of energy. Of course, it is possible.
