TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Professor W Ernst, Department of Geology, University of Tubingen, Tubingen, West Germany
Date3 July 1978
DescriptionGold is not sure of Ernst's prsent address, but hopes that this reaches him through Tubingen. He is writing as he has been engaged in geophysical and geochemical researches that led him to recognize the importance of deep primeval methane for many purposes, one of them being in relation to earthquakes which Ernst appears to have recognized long ago.

Gold is about to set up various measuring and monitoring devices, and he is sure that their investigations will have much overlap with his work. They would of course be happy to make reference to all of Ernst's work in this field in publications and in research proposals, and they would also prefer to be guided by Ernst's experience. Asks if he would send them reprints and reports, especially of his experience with the Costa Rica project.

States it would be very interesting to meet and discuss their complementary work if possible. Gold is often in Europe and in fact has an invitation to visit Heidelberg next time. Alternatively he might visit Ernst in Costa Rica.
