TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Dr Alan J Grobecker, Director, Atmospheric Sciences, National Science Foundation, 1800 G Street, N.W., Washington, DC
Date20 October 1978
DescriptionGold asks if he could discuss with Grobecker or with whoever Grobecker would like to designate, what can be done to avoid a rather imminent disaster. It would be very sad if Gold had to dismiss the people with whom he has been working on the outgassing problem, and it would put the whole investigation back a long way, if at some later time Gold tried to re-form a fresh group. Yet the end of November will see all funds exhausted.

Wonders if some interim solution is possible, or some assistance from the resources of the solid Earth at NSF, since the proposal clearly straddles two subjects.

Is sorry to be causing trouble, but hopes Grobecker will understand Gold's predicament.
