TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Dr Gordon Newkirk Jr., Director, High Altitude observatory, NCAR, PO Box 3000, Boulder, Colorado
Date3 April 1978
DescriptionStates he is too heavily committed to undertake any substantial program for the solar workshop. He has, however, an intense interest in the subject of the energy sources of active regions, and the nature of the magnetic changes associated with the release of magnetic energy. Newkirk has head Gold say some of this, and Gold has some more to say after reading recent literature in this field. If Newkirk thinks that a brief trip would be worthwhile, he might be able to do this. If Newkirk does not think that this would fit in with the general planning of the workshop, Gold would understand.
