DescriptionBrunton and Cash present observations from a series of experiments on the action of ammonia and its salts and of hydrocyanic acid upon muscle and nerve. They share the results of test with ammonia, ammonium chloride, ammonium nitrate, ammonium nitrite and cyanide of ammonium, describing the contraction of muscles and stimulation of nerves.

Annotations in pencil and ink throughout. Marked on front as 'Mar 16/82'. Includes 12 photographs relating to experimental results.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 32 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On the action of ammonia and its salts, and of hydrocyanic acid upon muscle and nerve'.
