Description | List of botanical specimens by Isaac Rand. The Company of Apothecaries of London had established a physic garden in 1673. Sloane had granted them part of his estate and manor of Chelsea on condition that it would be kept by the Company as a physic garden. As evidence of this, the Company were asked to present 50 specimens of plants annually which had been grown there in the previous year.
