DescriptionThese appear to be the original figures of Jean Dominique Cassini's observations of the sunspots (8 and 14 August 1676) and the ring of Saturn, enclosed with his letter dated 26 August 1676 to Henry Oldenburg. His annotations have been crossed out and figure numbers added for publication.

Figures labelled II and III are sun spots drawn in pencil. Figure. IV represents the rings of saturn.
