Citation | David James Wallace is distinguished for his contributions to theoretical physics. He has made important contributions to field theory and its applications to statistical physics and to high energy physics. His contributions include calculating the equation of state at a continuous phase transition using epsilon expansions and 1/N expansions, deriving the gradient properties of the renormalisation group for a wide class of models, elucidating the effect of fluctuations on the properties of surfaces and the development of the droplet theory of phase transitions. He is now actively involved with the development of numerical simulation techniques and has applied these to problems in high energy and statistical physics. He has also stimulated and led the work of many others and has contributed very effectively to the encouragement of his subject. |
