DescriptionEric James Denton was born Bentley, Yorkshire 30 September 1923. He died in St Just, Cornwall 2 January 2007. Denton was a British marine biologist. He graduated with a degree in Physics from Cambridge, before pursuing biophysics research at UCL.

Denton became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1964, and won the Royal Society's Royal Medal in 1987. He served on the Royal Society Council 1969-1971 and 1984-1985; and was Vice President 1984-1985. He was the Director of the Marine Biological Association Laboratory in Plymouth between 1974 and 1987.
