CitationHilditch, Thomas Percy (Birkenhead). Campbell Brown Professor of Industrial Chemistry in the University of Liverpool.
Distinguished chiefly for his researches on the chemistry of fats. These have led to new methods of investigating the structure of glycerides and consequently to an increase in knowledge of natural fats and of the relationship between their fatty acid components and their origin. Other important researches have dealt with catalytic action at solid surfaces, especially hydrogenation in liquid systems and selective hydrogenation. He is the author of "Fats and Waxes", " Catalytic proceses in applied chemistry" and "Chemie der Fette (Hefter Schonfeld)". Has published jointly or independently some 165 papers on these and other subjects.
