Citation | Munro, John Watson (London). Profesor of Zoology and Applied Entomology in the Univesity fo London (Imperial College of Science). Distinguished for his use of entomological knowledge to combat insect pests. This work has been most successful and has attracted the interest of (a) the Medical Research Council (the bed bug problem); (b) the Deaprtment of Scientific and Industrial Reserch (grain infestation); (c) the Agricultural Research Council (grain infestation); (d) the Empire Cotton Growing Corporation (cotton pest control in Southern and Central Africa). These four bodies have subsidised Professor Munro's researches to the extent of several thousand pounds a year. |
