His chemical and physical investigations in the domains of art and archaeology are recognized as outstanding contributions to theory and practice for the use of the worker in the art gallery, the excavator in the field, and the museum curator. Consequently he has been selected as scientific representative at the International Museums Commissions in Paris, Moscow, Madrid, Cairo and Brussels. Publications: 'The preservation of Antiquities', 'The Conservation of Prints' etc, and numerous original papers in the 'Journal of the Chemical Society' 'Technical Studies', 'Mouseion', 'Museums Journal'.
