CitationBisat, William Sawney (Collingham). Hon. M.Sc. Civil Engineer for Public Works Contractors.
First published in 1914 on the Millstone Grit sequence. His main contribution to science has been the investigation of goniatites, which have yielded him a most valuable time-scale for the Carboniferous as a whole, and more particularly for the Millstone Grit. Since the old war, Bisat has been acknowledged leader in this branch of research. His work has borne rich fruit, and has found most gratifying applications in extensive researches by the Geological Survey. It has also found valuable employment on the Continent and in Morocco and the United States. Of late, Bisat has undertaken research of high quality in the glacial drifts of Yorkshire. Bibliography attached.
