CitationHenderson, Velyien Ewart (Toronto). Professor of Pharmacology, University of Toronto. Educated at Upper Canada College; University of Toronto B.A., 1899; M.A., M.B., 1902. Fellow in Physiology, University of Pennsylvania 1902-3. Studied under Chiari in Prague and Hans Meyer in Marburg 1903-4; under Starling, University College London, for four months 1905. Fellow in Physiology and Pharmacology, University of Toronto 1905; subsequently Associate Professor and Professor of Pharmacology, University of Toronto. The most important group of researches are those on general anaesthetics, which included the intital research on cyclo-propane. Member of the Physiological Society, The British Pharmacological Society and the corresponding American Societies.
