Description | Brown requests help in promoting a historical exhibition commemorating the 'Icelandic discovery of America'. Brown would like the Royal Society to support an application to the British government, and refers to her book 'The Icelandic Discoverers of America' which was written to promote the 'objects' set in Brown's appeal and 'to show the historical connection between the Icelandic discovery and the Columbian one'. Brown remarks that the true discovery has been too often 'overlooked' and 'concealed'. Enquires if the Fellos of the Society will subscribe to her book, which will facilitate Brown's efforts to spread the ideas discussed in her book.
Enclosed is a printed subscription form consisting of four pages, in order to subscribe for Brown's work relating to the discovery of America 'by Icelanders, 500 years before Columbus'. As well as Miss Marie A Brown's plan consisting of four pages, 'for an international historical exhibition in commemoration of the Icelandic discovery of America', includes a diagram of the ground plan of the interior of an ancient Icelandic viking hall, and an application to the British government. |
