TitleLetter from [Alfred] Fowler, Joint Permanent Eclipse Committee (of the Royal Society and Royal Astronomical Society), Royal Astronomical Society, Burlington House, London, W, to The Secretaries, Royal Society
CreatorFowler; Alfred (1868-1940)
Date2 November 1914
DescriptionWishes to ascertain, in relation to the recent Eclipse expeditions, if it is the desire of the Royal Society that the regulations drawn up in 1899 for the procedure of the Committee in regard to the reports should be acted upon. Remarks that the expeditions from Stonyhurst and South Kensington were chiefly funded by the Government Grant Fund, of which only the Stonyhurst observers were successful, with the South Kensington party being unable to reach Kiev on account of the war. Informs that the Greenwich observers were successful at Minsk, and although the cost of that expedition was borne of the Admiralty, he believes the Astronomer Royal would be willing to present a report at the same time as the other parties, if requested to do so.
