DescriptionAcknowledges a communication about forthcoming astronomical expeditions to Russia and Sweden to observe a solar eclipse. Instructions have been sent to British representatives in St. Petersburg and Stockholm to seek cooperation from the Russian and Swedish governments.

Enclosed is a letter from A Fowler, addressed to the Royal Society secretaties, pertaining to a request from the Foreign Office to issue a general instruction to the British Consular Officers in Russia at Rigs, Kiev, Novorossik, and Feodozia, and in Sweden at Gothenburg and Hernozand, to render assistance to the parties going out to observe the Solar Eclipse on 21 August, dated 30 August 1914.
