DescriptionCorrespondence and legal documents relating to the bequest of Sir Arthur Herbert Church to the Royal Society. Church bequeathed forty-three £20 shares of the Westminster Bank Limited, the income from which was to be applied to 'any purpose or purposes connected with the preservation and utilization of the archives of the Royal Society'.

Correspondents include Alfred Bray Kempe; Robert William Frederick Harrison; Johnson, Weatherall & Sturt - solicitors; Herbert P Morris; Stewart & Lloyd solicitors; G C Bower, Charity Commission.

Includes discussion of the bequest, in Church's will, of the revisionary interest, expectant upon the death of Ellen Cubbitt to the Royal Society; the appointment of new trustees; whether the shares due to the Royal Society from Church be transferred or sold; the payment of legacy duty upon the revisionary interest; investment of the proceeds from the sale of Church's stocks.

Also contains extracts from the will of Church and a copy of the complete will; account sheets for Lady Jemima Church & Mr Harold Stephen Church, executors of the will, with the Royal Society as beneficiaries of the will.
