Title | Draft letter from Sir Alfred Bray Kempe, 22 Pembroke Square, to Louisa Elizabeth Lawrence |
Date | 26 June 1914 |
Description | Miss Lawrence's letter has just come into his hand as he has been away from London on business. He is afraid that she has not received any letter from the Royal Society about the gift. Council decided last Thursday to accept it and directed that a letter should be sent to Miss Lawrence and her sister, with a paragraph inserted in The Times. He intends to go to the Royal Society the next morning to enquire why this has not been done. The cheque should be sent to the Treasurer at the Royal Society, as the forms of receipt are kept there. If she sends the cheque immediately he will instruct the Assistant Secretary, who is authorised to send receipts on Kempe's behalf. He apologises for the delay caused by his absence. |
