TitleLetter from John Scott Haldane, Cherwell, Oxford, to Joseph Larmor
Date14 February 1910
DescriptionHe has looked through the list of Fellows, but fears that there is hardly anyone who has had much to do with mine safety. On Council, the President has been associated with mines and Haldane hopes he would preside over the committee for the Tyndall bequest. Baker is interested in mine explosions and perhaps he could help. Among other Fellows, Dixon of Manchester is interested and served on a Royal Commission on Mine Explosions. Miers is interested in mining questions. It might be advisable to go outside the Royal Society, and Haldane notes the qualifications of Sir Henry Cunynghame, Sir John Cadman and Mr. W.E. Garforth. Haldane will be in Town over Thursday and might be able to come to the Royal Society.
