Title | Catalogue of plants and a herbarium by Richard Hill Waring, Leeswood |
Date | 1776 |
Description | A descriptive account of plants with accompanying botanical specimens. The author characterises the materials as as a continuation of his former letter, 'a Catalogue of some not common English plants, that had occurred to my observation...a further communication of that kind will not be unacceptable.' The documents were addressed to Daines Barrington, 26 January 1776. The specimens are referred to on pages 15-22 of the text, generally ferns. Waring's account is from Leeswood, near Mold, Flintshire, in Wales. The descriptions are of plants from a variety of locations near Leeswood, but also from further afield, including Surrey, Derbyshire and Merseyside in England.
Richard Hill Waring contributed the paper: 'A letter...to the Hon. Daines Barrington; on some plants found in several parts of England', Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, v.61 (1771) pp.359-389. This manuscript would seem to be an unpublished continuation or supplement to that paper. |
