Description | Formal journal kept by the Royal Society's Assistant Secretary (later styled Executive Secretary) D.C.Martin (1914-1976). Martin commenced work at the Society from January 1947 at the invitation of Sir Robert Robinson FRS. This typed and indexed work dates from shortly afterwards and belongs to an early period of Martin's long employment by the Society. It is marked "Confidential" and begins with a statement of intent:
"I propose to jot down in this Diary or Journal some personal notes which will be of use in the administration of the Society's affairs and will also put on record some of my personal reactions to the main events in the Society's affairs". |
