Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster |
Date | 29 October 1894 |
Description | By parcel post today Rix is sending a manuscript extract from volume I of the Council Minutes and a bound copy of volume II. In the letter Foster will find slips at pages 95 and 133 where the extracts were too long to copy. Rix thinks these are what Foster means by 'Committees of Council'.
Mr [Adam] Sedgwick handed Foster the telegram and letter referring to [Henry Horatio] Dixon and [John] Joly's paper one minute before Council commenced. Rix drew Lord Rayleigh's [John William Strutt's] attention to them but he said it was too late to attend to new matters and the Committee of Papers did not get through nearly all their work. As there will be another Committee next Thursday Rix supposes the short delay is not serious.
Rix understands the Treasurer [John Evans] returned the draft letter about the Antarctic Expedition. The Society has not at present sent any letter to the Geographical Society and they were anxious to have a communication shortly. |
