TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, Grand Hotel
Date26 September 1895
DescriptionThe Treasurer [John Evans] has been in and informs Rix that Foster thought of having a Council on 17th October, if Foster stands by this Rix asks to know what time it will be held. Evans has also instructed Rix to ask the Foreign Secretary [Joseph Lister] to prepare a draft address to the French Academy to be considered at Council.

Several important decisions await decision. Two letters have been received from the Foreign Office respecting the International Catalogue [of Scientific Papers] one of which asks whether it is the Society's intention that the Government should be represented at the Conference. There is also a letter from the Admiralty respecting the Expedition to Funafuti Island which requires attention.

Nothing has yet been done respecting the issue of invitation cards for the informal reception and Rix cannot print them as he does not know what form they are to take.
