TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr John Murray, 32 Palmerston Place, Edinburgh
Date12 April 1895
DescriptionMurray's note of the 11th unfortunately arrived at the commencement of the Easter recess, hence the delay in answering.

The Treasury letter states that the stock now remaining in hand has been reduced by presentation and sale to the public to 108 sets besides a number of separate volumes and parts, from which however a complete set cannot be formed. The Lords consider it will suffice to retain 50 sets for disposal by sale.

It is not usual to state in the papers that the Treasury has consulted the Society upon any point and Rix would prefer to refer Murray to Dr Michael Foster on that point.

Encloses a letter from the French Ambassador on behalf of the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines which should be placed with the letters already sent to Murray [not attached].

Professor W N Parker has informed Rix that he has applied to the Stationary Office for the late W K Parker's copy and that the application has been granted. Rix has written to Mrs Herbert Carpenter about the same matter.
