| Description | Lister, as President of the Royal Society, offers the sympathy of himself and the Council on the death of the Royal Academy's President [Frederic Leighton]. He acknowledges the difference in their spheres of interest, but notes that the Royal Society feels that any influence which either body exerts is of assistance to the best interests of the other. They also share a conviction that their work is for the good of mankind, and so the Royal Society feel with 'special keeness' the loss over which the Academy mourns. |
