Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Richard Tetley Glazebrook, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 2 July 1896 |
Description | Harrison this morning sent envelopes, stamps and the copy and revised copy of Bose's paper. The latter was sent in in type and has not yet been set up. Harrison thought Glazebrook had taken this paper away with him from the meeting and supposed he had had it all this time.
Harrison marked the passage in Lamb's report on [George Frederick Charles] Searle, having no doubt as to which it was, and showed the copy yesterday to Searle. Searle has accepted the proposed curtailment of his paper for publication. Harrison asks if he should take it that if the Council adopt the recommendations of Glazebrook's Committee with regard to Searle and Baily, Glazebrook will write direct to them regarding the recommendations of the referees.
Harrison has about 50 copies of the 'Referee Trans. II' letter printed off but it will be easy to insert the works 'for consideration' by hand.
Harrison consulted the Secretaries as to the action under Standing Order 30 and there seems to be do doubt that, so far as referring the question of acceptance to a member of the Committee goes, consultation with the Secretary is not necessary, but submitting the paper for an opinion on its merits to any one other than the Chair must have the concurrence of a Secretary. In cases, therefore, of submitting a paper by direction of the Chairman alone, Harrison imagines the line Glazebrook mentioned would have to come out and the second form of the letter not be enclosed.
Encloses some copies of the paged Standing Order, omitted from the packet his morning [not attached]. |
