Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Sir Thomas Henry Sanderson, Foreign Office, S.W., Colonial Officer and India Office |
Date | 29 July 1896 |
Description | Asks that the Marquis of Salisbury be informed that the International Conference to consider a Catalogue of Scientific Literature was held 14-17th July and has been distinctly successful in so far that the desirability of making by international co-operation a complete catalogue of scientific literature to begin 1 January 1900 has been affirmed.
Asks that the Marquis of Salisbury will make the above known to several governments who accepted the invitation to the Conference and at the same time be so good as to convey in some way to those governments the grateful appreciation by the Society of the cordial co-operation shown by the delegates in the arduous and difficult work of the conference.
Encloses a number of copies of the authentic record of the Acts of the Conference, sufficient to supply each government with two copies, and two copies to each of the delegates. Additional copies can be obtained.
Asks that the Marquis of Salisbury accepts the cordial thanks of the Society for the trouble which he has gracefully taken in promoting what is now confidently expected will prove to be an undertaking of great use and moment to the progress of science.
A detailed verbatim report of the whole proceedings of the Conference is in preparation and copies will be forwarded in due course. |
