Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to B A Joule, Wardle Road, Sale, near Manchester |
Date | 13 November 1896 |
Description | Harrison consulted with the Senior Officers with regard to the apparatus of the late Dr Joule, and after mentioning it to the Council, they do not think it desirable to vary their resolution passed some time ago, that the instruments offered to them should be housed in the South Kensington Museum.
Harrison finds that the apparatus mentioned by Joule was not part of the Government Grant apparatus, and is, therefore, presumably freely at Joule's disposition. Harrison suggests Joule write to the Secretary of the Science and Art Department, telling him that at the time of the resolution of Council when it was suggested that the apparatus should be sent to the Science Collections, Mr [Joseph Norman] Lockyer, was good enough to say that he would see to its proper disposal and the Secretary of the Department will then, no doubt, advise Joule as to the proper person to whom the apparatus should be addressed. |
