Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Michael Foster, Secretary, Royal Society |
Date | 2 March 1897 |
Description | Harrison sent Foster's letter regarding Kew, and kept a copy.
Professor [Edward Albert Sharpey-]Schafer has, after all, selected next Thursday at 3.30pm for his Physiology meeting. As Harrison does not attend Council, he can attend the Committee, which can meet in the Officers' Room, and now that the Council is so near he can easily communicate.
The other day when the International Catalogue Committee fixed its meeting for the 11th, it was mentioned that the Soiree Sub Committee met on the same afternoon. Harrison presumes Foster thinks these need not clash, but as Harrison notices that three or four Fellows besides the Officers are members of both Committees, if Foster thinks it better there would be no harm in postponing the Soiree Sub for a few days now that the Soirees have been fixed for so late a date. Professor Roberts-Austen, as Foster may remember, prefers a 4 o'clock meeting, which Foster can only get on a day other than Thursday. If Foster thinks this change desirable, Harrison asks to know at once. It is very difficult to fit in the Committee meetings when there are so many and they all want to meet at the same times.
Last night Harrison sent a copy of the bound 'Year-Book' for Foster's use. He is having copies for the Secretaries and himself interleaved with plain paper for any additions and amendments.
Encloses a draft agenda paper for Council [not attached].
In view of the memorandum by Mr [William Turner Thiselton-] Dyer, which will be going round to the Council today, Harrison has only so far sent the printed letter regarding the Research Fund round to the London Presidents, assuming, from Foster sending round the memorandum, that he wishes the matter to have further consideration. If Foster wishes the letter to go out to the Colonial societies without reference to Dyer's views, they shall be sent at once. |
