TitleCopy of an address by Joseph Lister, President of the Royal Society, to Dr Felix Anton Dohrn, Director of the Zoological Station, Naples
Date[c March 1897]
DescriptionThe Royal Society of London, while founded to promote the advancement of Natural Knowledge in its own country has, from its earliest days, been in warm sympathy with the efforts made in other lands towards the same end.

It has therefore watched with interest the establishment and growth of the Zoological Station at Naples, recognizing how greatly that institution has during its existence promoted the advancement of biological knowledge.

It feels moreover, that English science owes a special debit of gratitude to the Station and its Founder, seeing that so many English workers have found in the station unusual opportunities for research and generous help in prosecuting their inquiries, inquiries which the Society is proud to think have added no little to the advancement of Natural Knowledge and the results of some of which it has had the satisfaction of publishing in its '[Philosophical Transactions]'.

It is with real pleasure that the president and Council seize the opportunity to send their hearty greetings and congratulations to Dr Anton Dohrn, the Founder and Director of the station, on the happy occasion of the 25th Anniversary of its Foundation, wishing him and its continued prosperity in the years to come.
