| Description | Unfortunately [Charles Thomas Rees] Wilson's paper was reported[?] to the Committee of Paper on Thursday and on Friday Rucker sent him the official notice that his paper was to go into the '[Philosophical] Transactions [of the Royal Society]'. It has not yet gone to the printers and Rucker has given orders to keep it back. Rucker is inclined to think that if Glazebrook puts [John] Aitken and Wilson into communication the 'controversy' ought to be restricted within very narrow limits. Rucker does not think Aitken ought merely to lend his apparatus to Wilson. Aitken ought to be prepared to go to see Wilson's apparatus and assure himself whether or not it works as Wilson describes.
It is worth notice that Wilson only obtained the cloud like condensations with the small apparatus and that if Aitken does not dispute that it occurred as Wilson states, they are to this extent in agreement that it occurs in some forms of apparatus only.
Unless Aitken's result definitely proves Wilson wrong, Rucker thinks they ought hardly to ask the Committee of Papers to rescind its decision.
