| Description | Foster's note and cheque for £3-3 for dinner and the nominations for Sectional Committees of Government Grant Boards have reached safely. Will do his best to get out something to circulate among Council tomorrow but at present such a small portion of the Council have sent in suggestions that it would seem useless to send them round. By tomorrow morning they may perhaps have enough to make a working list. Professor [Arthur William] Rukcer has sent in the same names as those proposed by Mr [Richard Tetley] Glazebrook, which Foster has not sent on as Rucker spoke with Harrison yesterday and from this gathered that Foster knew all about the matter.
Discusses the content of a memorandum which he has placed in Foster's pigeon hole regarding whether Dr John Murray should be added to the 'Challenger' Committee. Notes that Foster has recommended [Francis] Gotch for the Government Grant Board G, but Gotch is one of the retiring members. Rucker has been in since Harrison started his letter and thinks that an alternative name to Professor [James Alfred] Ewing's might be suggested for the Physics and Chemistry Committee, as Ewing is on the Council and might not care for the double claim on his time. Rucker proposes Professor [John] Perry as an alternative. |
