Title | Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Professor Leo |
Date | 24 October 1898 |
Description | Before laying Leo's letter of the 18th October before the Council, Rucker writes unofficially to ask if Leo's cartell still wishes the Royal Society to approach the Academies of St Petersburg, Paris and the Academy dei Lincei. Discusses the idea of meeting for a subject of common action. Professor Klein has seen the perpetual Secretary of the French Academy of Sciences in Paris and will no doubt communicate the result of this conversation with Leo. Believes that the Society will be willing to work in the utmost harmony with the cartell in the matter and if it seems wise to allow the scheme to spring out of a more or less informal meeting at Munich, the Society shall be content to adopt that mode of procedure instead of issuing invitations to form a union itself. |
