Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Frederick Victor Dickins, University of London |
Date | 29 November 1898 |
Description | Explains why he finds it difficult to understand that any of the publications ordinarily issued by the Society should have been refused to the London University.
The University is in the very special position of having on loan the complete set of the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' dating back to 1665, a set which is now very difficult to procure. Finds from Dickins' records that the University received Sir William Savory's set of 'Transactions' up to the time of his death. Since then no application for a grant or loan of volumes has been received.
Does not understand Dickins' reference to the invitation to the Society's Soirees as Harrison finds an invitation is regularly sent. Trusts that if an invitation does not reach for the May Soiree Dickins will let him know privately, as in that case there may be some error in their working lists. |
