Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Michael Foster, Secretary, Royal Society |
Date | 11 July 1898 |
Description | Regarding Professor Forsyth's note, which Harrison returns [not enclosed], Whittaker's paper was pushed on under the authority of the Chairman of the Sectional Committee acting under Standing Order 43, but was only formally passed by Council last Thursday, and the notice conveying the decision of the Council was communicated to the author on Friday or Saturday. If unofficial Fellows would acquaint themselves with the 'machinery' of the Society Harrison thinks it would save a good deal of unnecessary labour.
Queries the publication of Murray and Blackman's paper and its division into three parts; publishing one, archiving another and leaving the other to the Linnean.
Has summoned the Malaria Committee as appointed by Council on Thursday, in accordance with Foster's instructions but notices from Mr Chamberlain's letter that Chamberlain asks for a Committee to consult with the representatives of the Colonial Office. Queries if anyone communicated with the Colonial Office as to representatives meeting this Committee.
Foster's notes contain no reference to Sir William Flower being proposed for the Darwin Medal, though there was a note on the agenda that Sir John Evans desired to propose him.
Queries if anyone is to be informed of the grant in aid of Captain Dowding's expedition. |
