TitleCopy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to the Secretary, H.M. Office of Works, Storey's Gate, Westminster, S.W.
Date28 February 1899
DescriptionWith reference to letter, the President and the Council of the Royal Society have nominated Professor J Perry (Fellow of the Royal Society) and Rucker as representatives to advise on the adoption of a general form of clause for the protection of Government Buildings from the effects of electric traction.

It has been stated in the newspapers that the London County Council has been advised it has power to employ electric traction on the Tramways and has appointed Professor Kennedy to report on the system to be adopted. If this means that the County Council has power to adopt electric traction without further application to Parliament or to the Board of Trade, it may be desirable to enquire whether any special steps can be taken for the protection of Government Buildings against electric tramways controlled by the County Council.
