Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster [Royal Society] |
Date | 1 June 1888 |
Description | Enquires concerning the three papers by Professor James Cossar Ewart; the first on Raia batis recommended for 'Transactions of the Royal Society' but yet to be passed by the Committee of papers, the second on Raia circularis as possibly to be treated as an addendum to the first at the author's suggestion, and the third being a small paper on Raia radiata, which will Rix will not set up for 'Proceedings of the Royal Society' until the matter of treating the second and third as addenda to the first has been settled. Rix sends the second two to Foster, and asks that if he believes the Raia radiata paper should be treated as a 'Proceedings' paper that he return it at once.
Lord Rayleigh told Rix to talk to Foster about one of the referees recommendations about Gotch's paper, and Rix asks if he knows what Rayleigh meant. Rix also notes that although feeling better he is 'still out of sorts'.
Includes two postscripts, one of which refers to an Algerian letter about a dwarf race which was marked 'keep', and asks if it should be sent to Professor William Henry Flower, who is going to lecture on dwarf races at University College. The second reveals that Rayleigh meant to ask whether he should go on with the plates for Gotch, as they are unaffected by condensation of the text. |
