| Description | Adverting to paragraph two of the Under Secretary's letter of 10 July, 20720/00, Harrison sends the accompanying short memorandum on measures to be taken for the prevention of malaria, drawn up by Sir M Foster and approved by the President [Joseph Lister]. Memorandum briefly details the cause of malaria and states that in the vast majority of cases it may be prevented by avoiding the bites of mosquitoes, avoiding sleeping or living near 'native huts' in regions favorable for malaria, and by preventing malarious persons from being bitten by mosquitos. |
