| Description | Mr Harrison has just shown Foster Gardiner's corrections on the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' proof. A large number of these are verbal alterations of the text and not corrections of printer's errors. Proof corrections of this kind on the part of authors contribute largely to increasing the printer's bills and are not considered a fair burden on the limited financial resources of the Society. Authors ought to send in their papers in their final form and not wait to see them in print in order to 'polish them up'. Hopes Gardiner will point this out to Hill and bear it in mind when he sends papers in. |
